COMPETITIONS

Sports is at the core of Special Olympics and continues to serve as the catalyst for promoting inclusion on and off the playing field. Special Olympics athletes train for a minimum of 8 weeks to prepare for competition. Sports programming is offered through schools, recreation groups, service providers and general community groups.

Special Olympics South Carolina offers advanced competition in sports during dedicated seasons, however, local programs can train and compete in any Special Olympics sports at any time of the year. Other competition opportunities also take place, particularly through local and regional league play.
