Special Olympics South Carolina allows children and adults with intellectual disabilities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and share their skills with others. Your Special Olympics South Carolina car donation will help provide year-round sports training and competition to over 31,000 athletes.
Question: What types of vehicles can be donated?
Answer: We accept almost all running and non-running cars. We do ask that your car have at least two inflated tires and be in a tow-accessible location, such as a driveway or on a street. Special Olympics South Carolina also accepts trucks, motorcycles, boats, planes, snowmobiles, heavy machinery, trailers and RVs on a case-by-case basis. If you have questions about a vehicle you’d like to donate, call (888) 828-0022.
Question: Do you need a title to donate a car in SC?
Answer: You’ll need to have a clear title in order to complete your car donation. If you can’t find your title, you’ll have to apply for a duplicate title. Instructions on how to sign your South Carolina title over to our authorized agent, Advanced Remarketing Services, can be found here or you can call our processing center at (888) 828-0022 and a customer service representative can walk you through the process.
Question: How much money does Special Olympics receive from my car donation?
Answer: Our trusted agent, Advanced Remarketing Services, returns 80% of the gross proceeds from your car donation back to Special Olympics, the highest of any vehicle donation program.
Question: How much of a tax deduction is donating a car?
Answer: Within 30 days of the sale of your vehicle, you’ll receive an email with a tax receipt for your car donation. If your car sold for over $500, you can claim the full selling price when itemizing taxes. If it sold for less than $500, you can claim the fair market value up to $499. Please consult with your tax advisor on the best way to claim your Special Olympics South Carolina car donation tax deduction.
