Free National Federation of State High School Associations Courses
The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has developed complimentary courses to give you a better understanding of unified sports, sportsmanship, concussions, and heat related illnesses and how these impact your athletes. These courses are an extra resource for local program and are not currently a part of the SOSC certification process. Once a course is complete, the coach will receive a certificate.
- Coaching Unified Sports
- Concussion Recognition – Required for certification
This course is another option to attending a training school for Unified Certification.
- Sportsmanship – not required for certification
- Heat Acclimatization and Heat Illness Prevention – not required for certification
First Aid Courses
First Aid courses are not currently required by SOSC as a part of the certification process. However, this does not negate the need for the course to have a better prepared coach. Please go to the American Red Cross for details on course offerings.
