Summer Educators Workshop

Special Olympics South Carolina invites schools interested or already involved with Unified Champion Schools to the 10th Annual Summer Educator Workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring others from their school or district who may be interested in collaborating to bring quality, social inclusion and health programs to their students. Unified Champion Schools includes programming for youth with and without intellectual disabilities, at all grade levels including Early Childhood.
The Summer Educator Workshop provides information on funding opportunities, serves as a platform for learning/sharing best practices and gives access to networking with colleagues throughout the state. This workshop can also be used for continuing education credit, with certificates provided by Special Olympics. Participants typically include Guidance Counselors, school administrators, special education teachers, Physical Education teachers, sports coaches, support staff (including therapists), and general education teachers (including special areas).

1:15 – 3:00 Strong Minds for Unlocking Inclusion: New Special Olympics Health initiative that includes strategies for teaching mindfulness and coping mechanisms in a unified setting.
